The Ergometric Test serves to evaluate cardiovascular functioning when subjected to gradually increasing physical effort on a treadmill. Symptoms, heart rate, blood pressure and electrocardiogram behavior are observed before, during and after exertion.
The main purpose of the test is to diagnose and evaluate coronary artery disease. It also assesses cardiorespiratory functional capacity, detection of arrhythmias, blood pressure abnormalities and myocardial ischemia.
